With over 72 million copies of the comic series sold and a total box office revenue of 19.3 billion yen from the live-action movie series, the legendary masterpiece loved by all generations worldwide, Rurouni Kenshin comes back to life as a brand-new TV anime in 2023.
The original work was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1994, and in 1996 it was made into a TV anime for the first time. Since then, it has undergone numerous developments, from OVAs to theatrical releases, and now with Rurouni Kenshin: The Hokkaido Arc serializing in Jump SQ.
This long-awaited work aims to reconstruct the original story from the first episode using the latest animation technology, to create a Rurouni Kenshin anime that will appeal to current anime fans.
For the animation production, talented staff such as director Hideyo Yamamoto (Strike the Blood) and Hideyuki Kurata (Made in Abyss) for series composition were gathered. The cast members will be renewed, with Soma Saito in the role of Kenshin Himura.
After nearly 30 years of serialization, the new TV anime Rurouni Kenshin is coming soon.

I really cringe whenever people say this show was their childhood as was it mine, but I really can't stress to mention the manga artist loved childhoods too.
I hate this style. Its too clean to look at. Does not have the ruggedness of the og. The og had this grounded-ness to it. It was deliberate in its color palette and angular definition to give scenes and sceneries a lived in look in its own dimension.
This does not have that.
I like how they made it the same but better quality

1996 Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X- Gives a variety of emotions Makes us Laugh,Cry and Gives a lot Goosebumps (Greater Than All animes and the Big 3 animes,Big 3 isnt even close to great its like kids show with over emotions eg: Genz animes like : Naruto🫠,demon slayer s1) and 1996 version also have cool entrances✨ with Best Bgms but should be Watched in Dub😎,on sub u can hear dying old woman voice as kenhsins voice👵🏻🔊 same like Dragon Ballz Only Sean Schemmel Version Is the Only Adult Goku👍🏻 the sub one is 👎🏻.
2023 Rurouni Kenshin- Great Fight scenes and Goosebumps 🤩,But Less emotions and funny scenes compared to 1996 verison,But this one is suitable for All anime Watchers, Because only it can be watched in Sub and Its 95% accurate to Manga(2023 version ruined Kondo,Hijikatas and some shinsengumis hair style which is not manga accurate).Big 3 is only Popular bcos its released in Genz era and it have Big TWO' s😶🌫️ which Most current Genz anime watchers want.The Greatest Anime can Survive without Fan service 💪🏻.

MAN this really seems like a good show but the way the main character talks is so stupid. I couldn't get passed 1st episode.. smh
This version they changed the back story of many characters with great backgrounds. Oniwabanshū is a great example of this. Or Sagara saving Sanosuke by pushing him off the cliff into water as he is gun down. This remake shortened and changed storyline for characters taking away what made them a honorable character.
